About the project
Timeline: Project start Q3, 2015; completed in Q4, 2015
Horizon North was the successful proponent in the bid process for on-site renovation work. The scope of work consisted of three packages including architectural, electrical, and mechanical. The existing piping system and fan coils were removed from the Birch Creek Lodge dormitories and amenities area, and then replaced with a new system consisting of copper and black iron. To support this scope, the majority of the lodge required ceilings made up of T-bar systems and/or finished drywall to be removed and electrical components to be disconnected. This was then replaced and finished once the mechanical scope was re-installed, tested and commissioned.
The project was an overall success completed ahead of contractual completion date, having an excellent safety record, and meeting the quality expectations from the client, resulting in a seamless hand over to the lodge operations group.
Outside of the original scope, Horizon North was awarded additional contracts to support other contractors, as well as new scopes that have arose including fire suppression system replacement, and millwork finishing.
