Job Description

Full-Time Permanent position based in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage purchasing department, including development of processes to ensure all materials are procured, received, warehoused and inventoried accurately
  • Ensure success of material and acquisition cost-saving initiatives
  • Ensure positive, long-term supplier relations
  • Maintain knowledge of production schedules to ensure seamless supply of material with a focus on cost and accuracy
  • Complete regular inventory audits and quarterly inventory counts, and to be responsible for inventory turns, cost control, inventory accuracy and meeting all engineering specifications
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, and storage of all materials
  • Identify training needs of Purchasing personnel
  • Monitoring out-sourcing processes to ensure department is updated on new products and suppliers
Qualifications
  • 5 to 8 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing or similar industry
  • Experience dealing in and being a contributor to an environment that is demanding, constantly changing and rapidly growing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior planning, organizational and process improvement skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Self-direction and resourcefulness with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong supervisory and leadership qualities
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Familiarity with Great Plains software package
  • Completion of PMAC program considered a strong asset
