The Company’s business office in Kamloops, which was put into operation in April of 2015, has already won the hearts of its occupants by offering an unmatched convenience, functionality and innovative technical solutions.
Last month, the state-of-the-art building has received even greater appreciation. It has won for Horizon North one of the top honors in the modular industry – the 2016 Award of Distinction from the Modular Building Institute (MBI), a non-profit trade association that serves the interests of the offsite construction sector and promotes innovations and new practices.
Announced at the MBI’s Annual Convention, which took place in San-Diego, USA, the decision of the panel of modular construction professionals, peers and subject matter experts had recognized the architectural excellence, technical innovations and sustainability that were exemplified by Horizon North’s Permanent Modular branch, which constructed the building.
This growing line of the Company’s business managed to incorporate into their two-story 27,650 sq. ft. building an impressive array of interior and exterior novelties and blends including flooring options, primary wall finishes, metal siding, cement board panels, wood cladding accents and many others.
As a result of team efforts of Permanent Modular designers, engineers and crews, the building has been constructed from 35 12×60 modules, manufactured at adjacent plant, and seamlessly matched with the main entrance. It obtained a top of the line office space, both private and open concept meeting areas, employee showers and a comfortable employee lunch room.
Among technical innovations, highlighted by the MBI, were the building’s LED light fixtures, capable of reducing energy and maintenance costs, power saving roof top units for heating and cooling, power smart appliances, bottle-free water filtration, low flow toilets, waterless urinals, touch free hand dryers and faucets, water based paints and water based adhesives used to promote environmental stewardship.
“We were honoured to become the Award winner leaving behind 16 other contestants in the Permanent Modular category,” said Rod Graham, Horizon North President and CEO. “This achievement sets a new milestone on our way to success and will contribute to the company’s business development by showcasing both our performance excellence and growing capabilities of a modular industry leader who cares about customer needs, protects the environment and promotes sustainability.”
